Hey GD,
I'm looking for some advice here as I know there are a few police officers that frequent the forum.
I live in a block of flats beside a quite unstable man. I have lived here for about 3 years and had nothing but abuse from him. It all started because he came up to my door shouting at me about sweeping the floors outside the flat. He gave me abuse and threatened me stating that it was my turn to sweep the floors. After this I decided not to sweep the floors as I had been basically threatened.
Had he asked my nicely I would have had no problem at all with helping out as I allways have in other flats I have lived in. My flat is rented and really my landlord should deal with this, not me but whatever, had he asked my nicely there would be no problem.
Anyway as I say that guy is quite unstable coming up to my door on random nights shouting about council tax and other things when he has been drunk or more probably on drugs determined by the state of his face.
A while back he came to my door telling me that I have to cut all the grass outside which belongs to 4 blocks of flats btw as I have never done it. I was quite taken back as only his family use the outdoor garden and I have no lawnmower.
So normally I just try my best to stay the hell away from this guy as he is so aggressive and it's been ok so far.
WRONG ! ! !
Today, my mother came up to visit my flat and wrap some presents and asked me to go out and get a bottle of wine she had left in the car.
On the way back up he was sweeping the stairs and started shouting at me it was my turn to do it and going mental. All I said was "well thank you" and walked past then SMACK ! I had a broomstick lunged into the back of my head ! I gave this guy guy no cheek or abuse I only said well thank you. I didn't know what to say, I was quite scared to be honest.
I turned around and he asked me to go outside so he kick the ******* out of me. I turned and ran back to my flat with him chasing me and shouting "I'm going to ****** hospitalize you !!!!"
Anyway I called the police and they came up and took statements from me and my mother. She didn't actully witness anything but heard the whole thing.
They then took him away along with the broomstick ! To the police station. I have just returned form work on a lateshift and have spoken to the police officer about the incident. Apparently he said nothing at all from the flat to the police station. He then had a solicitor act on his behalf and the police have only been able to charge him with breech of the peace.
Meanwhile muggins is sitting here with a lump on my head the size of a golfball and this guy gets off with assaulting me !
So as far as I can see this guy can assault me in my entry way and get off with it scott free.
Is this really fair that I got assaulted and he gets off with breach of the peace, my head is killing me. He just seem to pick on my as i'm only 25 and not that big. I do programming and Uni if that says it all
Really not happy about this can anyone help or do I just have to put up with this kind of abuse ? I feel unsafe around my own home.
