Edit oops, sorry about the title typo.

I've been leant a thrustmaster t300 with pedals and a seat and it has give dirt rally a new lease of life. As Assetto Corsa was on sale I thought I'd give it a go but I don't get the steering wheel set up, I can't even use a gamepad or the keyboard to get beyond sitting in the car in VR with the engine humming.

I can move the yellow dot and interact with the menu on the left hand side. However when I select the steering wheel icon to start I've no way to move or start the car, I've pressed every button and pedal on very device and I just sit there!

If I go into the controls set up it has a list of presets for steering wheels (the one I have is no listed) and below that in another box it is showing the thrustmaster as the detected device as well as the xbox gamepad I have connected. I can 'load' the presets into the controls box on the top right but this doesn't help.

I don't want to have to refund it cos I'm too stupid to start the car, please help an old confused man.

Is the wheel recognised in the menus when configuring it? i.e. for mapping inputs.

You have to start and put the car into gear IIRC to move at the start using buttons even if automatic gears are selected though been awhile since I played it so might be remembering wrong.

Is there a key or button assigned to putting it into gear? The wheel is recognised if I go into configure, it goes through the set up stage. I don't have a gear shifter, am I missing something in the car selection/set up to ensure I have automatic gears selected?

Edit

I've come across this video and at 4:06 he clicks the steering wheel and goes to another menu that has various options, I don't get this. This is the point I just sit in the car.

Have you assigned your inputs manually in the wheel setup. If you do it right you should see the bars move when you press the pedals and steer left and right.

I have, and I've now managed to drive a car or two! Gosh it's not very VR user friendly though, lovely driving them cars but such a faff getting there. My chair is set up adjacent to the PC so there is toing a froing to be able to use the mouse then jump in the chair when it's ready to go. Bit a of a bummer when it comes to the start of a race, I'm still sitting at the PC!
