Assigning Bandwidth using MAC addresses in Tomato V1.25

I've recently reflashed my linksys WRT54GL Router with Tomato firmware v1.25. I've managed to lock the network down to device MAC addresses, however I'm a bit lost as to how to allocate specific amounts of bandwidth to each device.

I understand this is done in the QoS menu. My dad requires about 4MB of our 10MB connection split across 2 pc's. The rest is free for me to use as I please. It's just that he's complaining that whenever I'm around, and using the internet he can't get online.

Just wondering whether anyone could knock up a quick guide on how to set this up. I've browsed the net for a fair amount of time looking for 'idiot' guides on how to do this, but it's been of no real help. From what I understand I would need to:

- Prioritise internet traffic
- Choose the % of bandwidth allocated to the class of traffic (highest, high etc)
- Make the 2 PC's the priority when dealing with internet traffic.

The help would be much appreciated, thanks in advance!

Well this is the thing, I only download over night. I call my girlfriend using skype, but it wouldn't be enough to throttle the net connection so much so that we couldn't browse the net at the same time. I always shut down skype properly and kill any services that it uses afterwards. Thanks for the link, I can't look at it at the moment due to being at work but will defiantely check it out.

Thanks again!

I've run half a dozen speed tests on speed test and various other testing sites, and line speed is fine, hitting around 9.7-9.85MB and upload is hitting around 3-400KB/s. So I'm not sure what could be hitting it so hard, I'm not running any crapware, and my virus/malware/spyware scans come back clean. I only download overnight when I know my dad isn't using the internet/whatever.

I'd need to check my dads pc for any problems, but my dad is very paranoid about his pc and is always adamant that it's my fault and it's my laptop causing the problem.
