Hey guys,

Looking to do a new build as my wife needs a machine for animation work and other bits and bobs longer term.

Current machine specs are: -

i5 4670k Haswell 3.8gig stock
KFA2 GTX770 Oc (2meg memory onboard)
gigabyte Z87X-Oc mobo
8 gig Kingston(from memory) DDR3
Crucial 128gig ssd also
XFX 750-800w PSU (From memory)

Looking to build a new machine for around 800-1k looking for the following: -

- Best Oc mobo/cpu combo
- Best Bang for buck upgrade to current graphics card if worth it otherwise similar specs.
- Memory wise for new machine the best ddr set with highest memory capacity for new mobo (also something similar for other mobo too please)
- SSD what do you guys reccomend for bang for buck?
- PSU Recommedations for either one or the other pc's easy enough to sort that out.
- Possible case suggestions? Might have an Antec case I can reuse from an old Q6600 + ABIT setup if required however.

Thanks in advanced :)

The idea is she will use the current bones of the pc with the extra ram and graphics card in it + a decent OC.

Animation Software wise: -

Maya (hence 16gig ram - happy to go higher though)
TVPaint
Adobe suite
cell action

with some gaming too.

Apologies should have made it clearer reading it back.

I want to use the bones of the first machine for building something for the animation tasks as I think its got plenty of life in it for what she needs. More ram would help with rendering probably though. So I would like to consider ram upgrades for this.

I'd also like to build a new machine for the £800-£1000 for gaming(primary) and animation use also. However I am open to purchasing obvious cheap upgrades that help improve the current machine that I may have missed also.

Thanks very much,

Does the mobo suggested have all the features of my current OC board or is it slightly more limited? I'm assuming from an OC perspective even if it is limited on options it's still more than capable though right?

It does not support SLI, it does Crossfire at 16X/4X, it will not set the world alight with its overclocking.

ok thanks very much :)

I'll have a look at the bits you suggested and see what i can re-use from my current parts and look to possibly spend a bit more on the mobo/graphics card/memory possibly then.
