Greetings all,i've been advised to come here from several people singing nothing but praise.

Now i am after a decent/good gaming rig to keep me future proof for a good few years, well at least 3/4 years.Ideally i would like an i7 but it all boils down to budget.I've always gamed on consoles so this is all new to me so also at the same time don't want to jump in the deep end lol.

i have no experience in building and unfortunately have no one local to me assist,so is it best i buy a "bundle" or get the parts separately and have it built?

im Trying to keep it not so expensive by keeping the rig about a £1k,then monitor etc on top of that,if i can get it all fairly close to that i'll be super happy.

many thanks

Keith

An i7 at £1000 will involve too many sacrifices elsewhere for my liking. Here's an 4670k/780 build:

YOUR BASKET
1 x Gainward GeForce GTX 780 Phantom GLH 3072MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card £399.95
1 x Intel Core i5-4670K 3.40GHz (Haswell) Socket LGA1150 Processor - OEM £169.99
1 x Gigabyte Z87X-SLI Intel Z87 (Socket 1150) DDR3 ATX Motherboard £97.99
1 x SuperFlower Golden Green HX 650W "80 Plus Gold" Power Supply - Black £73.99
1 x Toshiba SSD HDTS212EZSTA 9.5mm 128GB Solid State Hard Drive - Retail £65.99
1 x TeamGroup Vulcan ORANGE 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-19200C11 2400MHz Dual Channel Kit (TLAD38G2400HC11CDC01) £55.99
1 x Corsair Carbide 200R Compact ATX Case - Black (CC-9011023-WW) £47.99
1 x Seagate Barracuda 7200RPM 1TB SATA 6Gb/s 64MB Cache - OEM (ST1000DM003) HDD £47.99
1 x Alpenföhn Matterhorn Pure Edition CPU Cooler £29.99
Total : £999.47 (includes shipping : £8.00).

Adding an i7 would be an additional £100. You could get a 280X/4770k build for around the same price (a bit less), but you'd be getting noticeably lower performance.

I'd certainly advise you to buy the components separately and build it yourself. It is quite easy, and you get more for your money. Search for Newegg's PC build guides on Youtube and judge for yourself if you're willing to self-build.

ah cool cheers,if needs be how much extra would i be looking at so wouldn't have a slower performance? i would rather be patient and save bit more...

thanks

Fulax 2nd build looks better, although i would opt for a better motherboard, probably the G1 Sniper z87 (not just because i own it) as it has a lot more features and is roughly £20 more expensive.

Also would opt for a better CPU cooler for the i7, stretch to a K2 or something, should fit with that ram also and offers a huge upgrade in cooling. Again about £20 more expensive.

Case choice is fairly good, i would probably push the budget a little if it was me to say £1200 and opt for a slightly better case + a CPU and mobo upgrade.

More expensive motherboard, more expensive cooler, more expensive case...it all adds up. £200 on top of the initial budget would be nice, but it is quite a lot of money.

Thanks both :)

Yeah i see that my budget is not agreeing with my greed lol,I could easily spend a fortune if my greed would let me,however i can't :/

I originally did budget 1,5k for entire purchase, but i might just use that for the rig then rest can come once i've moved my ps4/xbox etc on ebay.

I did a bit of window shopping myself and came up with these... but i do like the second build.

If you speak to OCUK when you have your final 'Basket' they should be able to give you a quote for them to build it for you.
