Associating my email with different gamertag?

A while ago I got myself a gamertag for one of microsofts' pc games and never thought anything of it.

Now that I've got my xbox360 and have accumulated a fair few points and saves on another account, I want to get XBL. However I can't sign up using my regular email as it's associated with this previous gamertag

Is there any way of deleting the first gamertag so I can sign up?

Log in with the previous GT and change the email to something else...freeing up the email for another account.
