Latest film from Wes Anderson with a pretty stacked cast, Asteroid City takes place in a fictional American desert town circa 1955. Synopsis: The itinerary of a Junior Stargazer/Space Cadet convention (organized to bring together students and parents from across the country for fellowship and scholarly competition) is spectacularly disrupted by world-changing events.

In theaters June 16th.

How many of his signature tropes is he going to put in to this one! :D

I do like a good Wes movie though so i'll looking forward to this one, his unique style is a gem in current crop of the current paint by numbers/sequels Hollywood is pumping out

This made me feel stupid. The only way to explain it is that I was never sure if I was meant to understand what was going on, whether it was intentional and I wasn't able to appreciate it from my stupidity or it was simply abstract and strange for the sake of enjoyment. It is so full of metaphors in each scene that my brain had no time to think about each before the next scene was erasing the memory of the last.
Did I actually enjoy it, yes and no.

I spent a lot of time appreciating the style and cinematography, the acting was good in its unique style but at the same time I never stopped asking why this and why that, which leads me back to my original point was I stupid or was it the films fault because it's just the eccentric ramblings of a director with Hollywood funding? It was so abstract in places that I didn't understand the point.

I think that it's just Wes Anderson but his previous films though artistically different at least made sense, I'd only give this a 5/10 for that reason.

This pretty much sums up my thoughts. Although I did come out of the film with a sense of enjoyment.
