I'll set this up as a hypothetical question, before people get too worried about whether this is a "look-at-me, look-at-me" thread.

A new hard-top goes for what? £150,000? So let's say you had that much to play, and you've set aside around that much you've already to decided to spend on a car.

Would you rather get a second hand DBS with say 6,000-7,000 miles on, or a brand new DB9? Or not an Aston at all? Maybe something a little cheaper like an R8?

I just don't think there's a better looking car around for the money. The DB9 isn't exactly ugly, nor is the Vantage, but I just think the DBS has an added touch of class and elegance while still looking pretty mean as well.

Get a used one, let someone else have the first whack of depreciation.

This I reckon would be the way forward. You may not get exactly what you want in terms of extras, but it's not exactly going to be a bad thing anyway! On the other hand, it would more than likely be a very very special purchase, and maybe something you'd like to spend the extra cash on to say it's "yours".

Slightly out of budget, but something else to throw into the mix?
