Was driving home today and just before Meir Tunnel in Stoke, I caught up with an AMV8 which didn't seem to be going that quick. Anyway, about 100 yards from the tunnel he slammed his brakes on and came to almost a stop then entered the tunnel.;)

He them absolutely caned it down the tunnel and booooy did it sound good! The V8 engine simply purrred along and he was out of my vision within about
10 seconds and that was a straightish road so you can see for a fair way. The car itself looked really nice. Obviously it has its problems such as the huge price but if one was offered - would I take it? Damn right! :D

Ive seen a few round here but wasnt a good as the DB9 that put his thumps up to me just before the Conwy Tunnels in North Wales then slowed down and repeated through the 3-4 tunnels.

Made my day!

The V8 Vantage has one of the best sounding engines I've ever heard. I live quite near the Aston Martin factory in Newport Pagnell (I know they're not made there any more, but you still see a lot of them driving about) so I often get the pleasure of hearing one of them roar past me going up the hill on the A509 towards Chicheley.

A mate of mine in London has a DB9 (lucky git) and last time I saw him he drove over to pick me up from Earls Court tube station, gave me the keys and told me to drive. I headed straight for the Blackwall Tunnell, wound the windows down and had a bit of fun with my right foot. Awesome car, totally awesome.

Hahahah, I was following dad to Extreme Wheels with the coupe yesterday (see other thread) and we went through Rotherhithe tunnel to get north of the river. It actually surpised me how long it took before the tunnel was filled with the obligitory revving that you have to make when you run a V8 :D

i go to work everyday through the rotherhithe tunnel. sometimes i will slow excessively for the speed camera lines on entry and then blat it through into the tunnel.

when i am feeling very childish i will put the window down too. :D

dartford & blackwall tunnel are also much fun :D

The 20K the V8 Vantage costs more than a 911 is worth every single penny just for the noise (the looks and interior don't hurt that argunement either ;) ). Its sounds almost as good from the inside as it does from the outside. Even on at low speeds it sounds mean but when the baffle moves at 4500rpm the noise is incredible.

Popped in to the local AM dealer yesterday to have a look at one close up. I nearly drove in to one in the paddock at Silverstone a few weeks back so it was nice to see one properly. Lovely looking car.

I heard a Ferrari yesterday down Sloane Street. It wasn't in a tunnel, but it was sure loud.
Got this short video of a 355 followed by us going through the tunnel in the paddock at Goodwood here. Sound isn't great and he didn't really rev the 430, but hey. Quicktime will play it.

The interior isn't that special and it isn't anywhere near as fast or capable as a 996 turbo but I'll still take one.

Only problem is at that price level there are a lot of alternatives.

F360 Spyder
F575M
996 Turbo
996 GT3
Gallardo

I recently met a chap who has a Griffith, 911 (993), 911 (997) and had just taken delivery of his v8 Vantage. Was telling that it wasn't as good as sports car, but was more of an "experience" to be in and more enjoyable because of that.

The rag top and supercharged ones will just make this V8 even better. Don't forget this is the entry level Aston Martin and given the choice between owning just about any other brand on the planet I'd want an Aston.

You can get a license to drive the cars but that involves getting sponsored onto the list and then taking a test. Their is also another test which lets you drive the high(er) performance cars.
