Astra, advice needed please

I have an Astra 1.6 Mk4 it's the Club 8v circa 2001 and it only has 47k on the clock.

In the last year, including today, it's cut out maybe three times. Each time it's after being driven a little bit harder than normal. Each time it's stalled when dropping to idle and each time it won't start unless I give it a few minutes with the ignition off or put my foot to the floor whilst running the starter motor.

If I do that it runs really lumpy until I stop and give it a few minutes.

Any ideas?

I must a few fair quid that the egt thingy needs a clean. The mrs did when her corsa was doing this. cleaned and has been fine to this day

All of them I think, it's as if the ignition is turned on but the engine not started. The engine management light stayed on the first time I tried to to restart but went away the next time.

Sounds like the common throttle body issue with it getting choked up. Have a look here for a guide to clean it: http://www.astraownersnetwork.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18531

Note: Its worth just cleaning the throttle body whilst its on the car first and try that. Thats all mine required and I never had anymore issues with it. Saves taking it all off as shown in that link if its not required.

Lupo lover I assumed meant the ECR valve.

As said above check the throttle body first, a massively common problem on the Mk4's

Cheers. Must be that, I didnt know what it was called. Its in the inlet manifold, my mate did it for me. Apparently its really common. Hers only has 40k on it, but did just need a clean not a new one
