i am looking into gettin a VXR the older modes not the new1s coming out :p... i was wonding how is it for petrol and tht how much is it to fill etc.....or if there is simalr cars to it that i can also look into haha thanks.....jjsut so ya know i dnt know much about cars haha :p :D

Budget?

You won't find much love for the older Astra VXR and current Corsa VXR. There are much better cars for the same money generally.

If you are worried about the petrol I would say a car like this isn't for you either. Have you considered tyres on an Astra VXR can be expensive, costs if a turbo goes and so on...? MPG on anything half fast should really be the least of your worries, when you factor in other costs.

well i dont have a budget for anything really just i want a sporty car like them i currently have a older astra and i have always loved the vxr but i wudnt mind sumit like that or sumit better vaule for money etc lol

A fellow Monkey Hanger, hey!

Theres one for sale at Tonesy's right now, go for a test :p

For what it's worth, I got beat by a girl in a red VXR when I was in my MK5 R32  She was on boost at the right time mind :o

I'm currently looking for an Impreza STI - she wont beat me next time :D

If you don't have a budget I would probably suggest something like this.

It's miles better than the Astra VXR and Corsa VXR.

The only reason to get an Astra VXR or Corsa VXR over that car is if you specifically need a hatchback in which case I would probably go for for an Audi S3.

The Corsa VXR is fun, a lot of fun but eclipsed by other small hot hatches. I suspect a lot will be overpriced by Vauxhall fans.

Can the Corsa GSI not be tweaked to offer better performance than the VXR?

Personally if you like them get one, I'd be tempted if we needed to get a second small car.

Astra is a lot quicker, but never really seemed to do that well compared to the Megan Cup and Focus ST.

I wouldn't bother with the Astra if you like going round corners. Focus ST or a Civic Type R would be a much better choice, or an Integra Type R if you can stomach the increased insurance due to it being an import.

Mate had one and liked it. Think he had the Astra VXR.

IIRC he said it went from reasonable (30-ish?) if he was careful to low teens if he thrashed it.

If you buy a VXR, you must play your music so loud that all and sundry can hear it. You must wear a tracksuit. Also you must only fill it with a tenner at a time, and race everyone from the lights.

Why do people always say this? Its totally viable question when buying any car unless you're a millionaire buying a Veyron or similar.

I'd personally look at other turbo powered hatches

Simply due to the fact if you do small mileage it's a tiny cost compared with a turbo going or insurance, and if you do big mileage then you already know the running costs are going to be bad as you'll be servicing the car much more regularly and replacing things like tyres more often.

Sure the MPG difference between a 1.0l Fiat Panda and an M3 are worlds apart and would make a massive difference, but this guy is looking at quick hatchbacks. They all do about the same MPG, the difference in MPG between a Corsa VXR and Fiesta ST and Clio 182 is so minimal that it's really other things he should be looking at.

I owned a Corsa VXR for little over 3 years (sold mine back in Feb of this year).

Decent cars to drive and providing you dont boot it all over the place you can easily get 30-35mpg out of them.

I'd spend no more than 9k (if I were to get another.... Which I dont plan on doing) on one.

Also make sure it hasnt been tuned or ragged to death. Get one that is standard.

Would get one from someone you know of... Perhaps join a forum. Find one for sale then look up the owners previous threads to check on the car's history!

aye the other 1s i was looking at was the honda civic type r the old modles and also the focus st. i get money back from petrol from work i was just wonderin how much per tank etc how long it last haha

My friend has a remapped Corsa VXR and it's a really fun car, i also really like the look of it in blue. It's such a nippy and light car. It handles quite well also, as i found out when he raced a noble :o

The only thing i don't like are the front seats as there doesn't seem to be much material/sponge between your bottom and the plastic, which leads to bottom ache :p

Also on the petrol front he averages around 28MPG. which is better than my 21MPG with my ST!

Your grammar suits a VXR purchase.

Enjoy
