Hey all,

Wondered if anyone is having any issues with Astraweb for newsgroup access? Getting tons of in-completes, Also get error 502, Your per user connection is being exceeded. I was thinking it was down to the new NZB sites i have been, Anyone having any problems at all?

Thanks in advance.

You either started downloading and your WAN IP changed so the system thinks you are attempting to download from more than one place on the same account, or your account is being used elsewhere.

If you did not give your details to someone to use, get your password changed.
If you did give your login details to someone else, the error is to be expected.

Hi PistolPete. To be fair i have always had that message on and off over the years, I did change my password just recently so know its not my account being used elsewhere. Think i may need to look around for a new provide, Shame really as liked Astraweb and been with them on and off for 10+ years.

I ditched Astraweb months ago after being with them for years, moved to Tweaknews and had no problems at all since.

Recommending alternatives (to avoid DCMA) is only going to lead to a rush of new sign-ups. Which leads to an over subscribed service and/or eventually them becoming the next big target.

Anything that is registered in the US is going to be hit first (such as Astraweb), anything EU based takes a little longer to comply, if they comply at all :)

I know - I'm just saying that lots of people come to forums like these complaining of DCMA incompletes. Any specific recommendations as to 'good' alternative providers will get jumped on. Newsgroups have become a target for DCMA because of the number of people using them - this is why many index sites have now closed their doors to new users.

If you've got a good provider, then you're probably better not to shout about anything specific and instead make suggestions such as the above (European vs US).

Anyway, getting too close to the line with regards to forum rules, so lets leave it there.
