Does anyone have these ?

Are they any use, do you still need to buy a extra lead to get them working on a ps3 or will they work as is ?

I have them and no the newer models do not need the extra wire as the Usb cable provided with the set when plugged in to the ps3 powers the unit and enables comms.

Also if I say that I would do without my tv over my astros would that answer your question?

Ive got the astros with the new mix amp, and yes they are worth it. Ive got the astro headset, and they are awsome. Ive read in many places that there are better headsets out there but im very impressed with the astros. My mix amp will work with the ps3, the only reason I know this (I dont have a PS3)is because when I first had the mix amp I was using the PC USB to power it and I could here the sounds from the PC coming through the Headset.

Just confirming what some have said. Mk2 Mixamp works without any additional accessories. Mk1 requires one of these.

If you're buying new you'll get a Mk2.

To answer whether or not they're worth it. Every penny imo. :)

Can only agree as to what has already been said in this thread, the audio system is outstanding

sorry to hijack this thread but do these compare to Sharkoon X-Tatic Digital?

Like light and day. The problem with the sharkoons is that they use the small drivers in each ear cup whereas the mixamp does all of the hardwork and simulates the 5.1 surround sound around a normal standard headset and the sound quality even using crappy headphones is decent with the mix amp!
