Hey guys,

I have just snagged a good deal on some A50's and had a question about setup..

Can I use my 3.5mm headphone connection from my PC motherboard into the A50's base unit?

Or do I need to connect the Optical cable from the PC mobo optical to the base unit?

If it needs to be optical, will it be "plug and play" for the connection, or will my motherboard need optical / sound drivers to work?

Thanks guys!

hmm..some help here please guys..

I just got the headphones / docking station setup, and working well..

My only concern is that when the PC is powered off the hub seems to switch off also?? Does it still charge without the lights on? I ask because ideally I would like to charge at the end of the day, and then overnight, with the PC not on or in a sleep state.

Cheers.

Glad you’re happy with them and got it all working. I think using optical and USB is the best combo really as it allows you to properly use the chat/game mix function if you talk on discord or similar?

Thanks Worthy, yeah, they are sooo good in sound compaired to my previous open-backs..

I do have a 3m Optical cable thats spare, so I could run that to the motherboard also? Would I need any futher software or drivers etc for the Optical?

Ohh no. Problem.

can someone please advise on this, the headset is awesome, sounds good, comfy and good build quality, but the drop outs! :(

Every so often, if listening to music etc. the sound fades out for about half a second, then resumes as normal. Is there any firmware or software etc. to try and remede this issue?

hey guys,

thread revival. I got some A50 headphones again today, but im wondering how to "simply" setup the power to charge when the PC is off?

im wondering if I can connect the micro usb to the PC and using the "charge" USB port on the dock of the A50's connected to a power outlet would work??

I don't own/have the Astro A50 (last Astro equipment was the old Mixamp 5.8). That said the manual reads as if micro-USB is for audio and power (https://www.astrogaming.com/content...en-4/astro-webqsg-a50-gen4-ps4-amr-rev003.pdf).

I know my main Windows 11 PC does the same thing and charges USB devices even when off. I wouild assume this is something I can adjust in the BIOS (although I've never investigated). I know my smaller Minisforum PC powers down USB ports when off.

yeah, i had to revert to the "traditional" setup.

USB to PC and enable the USB POWER to be on when system off. Will see how it goes, I can always return, I have 30 days anyways!
