I'm looking for a headset for gaming on the Xbox 360 and also the PS3.

After having a look around I like the look of the Wireless Astro Mixamp 5.8 & A40 (2011) Headset. I really want the Surround features that the Mixamp appears to offer as I feel I'm missing out with my current headset.

So my Question is this, the Astro Mixamp 5.8 & A40 Headset is a available as a bundle. Is the A40 a good headset or should I be looking elsewhere. Maybe at Turtlebeach or maybe the Mixamp with alternative headset ?

At the moment I have a Sennheiser PC 160 SK Gaming Headset, the sound is good but maybe they're not the most comfortable on longer gaming sessions.

If you have the cash, then you want the Sennheiser PC360 with the Astro Mix Amp :) It's expensive but been told it's very worth it!

I'd heard about the Sennheiser PC360, would be nice if someone on here had them with a Mixamp to confirm they work well. Having a quick look OcUK have the PC360's for £137 so the overall difference is only £20 or so and therefore I'd prefer to get the bes, the A40's look nice though :)

Well I ordered the Wireless Astro Mixamp 5.8 & A40's today. I was close to ordering the Sennheiser PC360's but really liked the look of the A40's. If I don't like them (and I hope I do) then I can always get the 360's at a later date.

I'm not sure what the delivery time is on them but I'll put up a quick review when I get them.

If you got them direct from Astro UK, their delivery time has always been amazing for me. Don't know if the quadruple bank holidays would affect that though.

Yeah i ordered direct, if it still says processing tomorrow i'll give them a call. Cheers

Mine came in 2 days. What A40s did you get? Ive been toying with the idea of getting custom tags for mine for something to do.

They were the 2011 Edition and I decided to get them in white. I also ordered a Special Edition Custom Tags for it. I'll probably get a rechargable battery pack at some stage but I'll wait for the Headset/amp to arrive before ordering.

I've been looking at these on and off for a little while...

Are they worth it?

I only ever see good comments about them but it's really a lot of money. I've got some Turtle Beach X11s which I use when I have to be quiet, but it'd be nice to have something better. Mixamp's a lot of money... hmm.

My Wireless Astro Mixamp 5.8 & A40's arrived today. The first thing to strike me was the cool packaging.. I know it's only a box but I like it when thought has even gone into that.

Anyway, I've not had much time to fully test them yet but first impression are good. The Mix amp was easy to set up and appears to be doing a good job. There is no distortion with the wireless and everthing appears crystal clear. Actually when I first had them on the Xbox dashboard it confused me as it didn't sound like the beeps from the dashboard were coming from the head set, difficult to explain but even that sounded pure and unforced. I've had a quick go of Black Ops and could immediatly feel the differnce.

The A40's came in a nice carry case and are very comfortable to wear. I'll give some more feedback after I've used them a bit more.

I recently picked up the A30s and they have given me a significant advantage in MW2. I wasn't sure how much better they would be than my Logitech THX surround sound speakers, but they have proven to be a significant step up. I mean I could hear where people were coming from before, but now... :D

I am using mine for late night Xbox, PS3, Movies, Music etc. The package is so impressive that I have not regretted the purchase in the slightest. I was expecting the Mixamp to be a bit heavier though. It doesn't quite feel like £100 worth :p

Need some lead weights in them like the logitech mice to make them feel more expensive :P

Well I gave the Mixamp and A40's a good bit of use yesterday and I'm pretty impressed. The sound is spot on and real. I'm not used to the surround bit yet as I've taken the headset off a couple of times just to check the sound wasn't actually coming from somewhere else, lol. I can't compare the headset to the PC360 as I don't have a set but from my side the Mixamp & A40 setup seems to be as good as I could have hoped.
