Hello people,

don't post in here that often, so be gentle :p

First question is serious and the second is plain curiosity.

1. How do you capture pictures of lightning? is it easily done? what sort of equipment do you need?

2. You no sometimes you look up at the sky at night and the stars just look beautiful? can that be captured? yes i know you can just take a picture but has anyone got any specific ways of doing this?

Thanks in advance

:)

You just set the cameras aperture to f8 to f11 at a low iso and leave the camera in bulb mode or shoot for around 15 seconds at a time with a rmeote cable release set to lock the shutter button so when lightning strikes it can be captured fully - That's basically it apart from remembering to use a tripod :D

Usually many people say to use the widest aperture you have else brighter strs end up looking like twinkles and now the pretty bright stars you see with the eyes - f4 is usually just fine for it, experiment in manual mode to get *** correct shutter speed because in AV mode the camera may just flash the shutter speed indicator because it's too dark according to the cameras built in meter.

Use a low iso again unless you like grainy shots !
