How many people on these forums have an interest in astronomy and all things spacey from watching science fiction to learning about science fact ?

Why is that some people widely regard people with deep interests in these areas as nut jobs ?

:p

And things like Astrology

I’m very interested in space exploration and astronomy amongst other things.

Me a nut job, wait only once in a while........ :p

I find it interesting but I'm not really in to it.

I did finally see part of the meteor shower last night which I was pretty chuffed with.

I might try and find somewhere darker tonight.

I'm interested in it, and am doing an aerospace engineering degree, so it's related to that in a way. I agree that some people can come across as a bit weird, but I like to think I don't come across like that.

I'm very interested in space, I'm no expert at all though. It just really interests me, knowing what's about their and what could be out their. Knowing how everything works in our solar system.

I'm really interested in Jupiter at the moment.

I'm interested in this area ... in fact I have a degree in Astrophysics :)

You do get a lot of nut jobs in that area but there are a lot of (relatively) normal people to!

I dont have much knowledge but i love looking at a clear sky when im in cornwall theres just field then atlantic with no street lighting ,its mind blowing not just afew stars like up here in yorkshire but a haze of stars.
my favorite is early on when the satalites are going past and the odd iridian flash, then your about to go in and you see an amazing shooting star.

It's even more amazing when you do night sky photography like I do, it shows just how much is out there.

Very nice jr1104!

Yes, I am an amateur Astronomer (Read VERY amateur :D). I dont get a lot of chance to use my astro equipment, but for any other nerds out there, I have a Skywatcher 200p. Great scope! Not very portable though! Im off to the Kielder Starparty in October (-4 temps last year! Everything froze solid.) for 3 nights.

If you want tio get into it, make sure you have a nice supply of cash. Theres ALWAYS something else out there that you want. Im currently after a moonlite focuser, with is a £300 upgrade to my £250 scope . . . . Yes, its a VERY expensive hobby!

Seriously, I love this hobby, nothing compares to first seeing saturn through a decent scope and honestly thinking that someone drew it on you lens!
Heres hoping for clear skies!
