Astropulse 4.35???

Just looking through my list of cached WUs for the weekend and noticed I have an Astropulse 4.35 in with the list of standard SETI WUs.

My SETI WUs are about 3.5 hours per WU and this Astropulse one is nearly 42 hours!!!

Anyone had one before or know the difference between the Astropulse and SETIs? What sort of points can I expect from it?

Astropulse is basically an extension to SETI:

What is Astropulse?

Astropulse is a new type of SETI. It expands on the original SETI@home, but does not replace it. The original SETI@home searches for narrowband signals, as does a conventional AM or FM radio. Astropulse, on the other hand, listens for broader-band, short-time pulses.

Astropulse WUs have just been created in small numbers, with full production happening next week apparently. I should've mentioned this in this week's news post really

Lets say for simplicities sake that an average Seti WU is 50 points and takes 3.5 hours, I wonder if this means I'll get 600 points for that Astropulse taking nearly 42 hours!!!

if you don't want to crunch these new WU's just use an optimised application as they can't download these new units, in fact what are you doing not using optimised apps???

Crunching on work PCs and needed something quick and easy and official so BOINC is it. I might have to revisit this though as I saw one Astropulse take 115 hours on one of my clients and that was AMD X2 6000!!!

Now which optimised app should I go for if I decide to make the change? I need something that is quick and easy to install and configure on multiple (possibly up to 60 clients).

indigo_prime, take a look at this page, which should provide you with the appropriate optimised app(s) for your systems. Really easy to install too, although I don't know how you'd quickly install them on that many clients!
