I have just installed my Asus 1080ti card that has arrived today and I'm trying to get my monitor running at 144Hz. I have a Benq XL2720z 144Hz as my main monitor which has 2x HDMI, 1x DVI, 1x DP, 1x D-SUB and my second monitor is an LG 27MP65 which has 1x HDMI, 1x D-SUB. The BenQ was connected via DVI and the LG via HDMI.

I tried the DVI with the DP adapter that came with the 1080ti which gave me a signal but only at 60hz. So I tried a couple of straight DP cables I had but couldn't get a signal from either of them on any of the ports on the card, came up with no cable connected on the monitor. I currently have the HDMI connected from the Benq to the card which gives me a signal, once selected on the monitor, but again this is only at 60hz.

Do I need to change some settings in the Nvidia drivers to get the straight DP working or should it just work out of the box? What would be the optimal setup?

Tried so many different things from Googling but just can't get my main monitor to run at 144Hz. Might try ordering another DP cable and see how I get on.

Got both monitors running at 60Hz at the moment. Benq via dvi -> DP adapter that came with the card and LG via HDMI.

But shouldn't 144hz work over DVI-DL ? I did read that the adapter that comes with the cards aren't actually DL though, so kinda makes them a bit useless really.

AFAIK 144hz doesn't work over HDMI at all?

Gave up for just now and ordered another DP cable which has a lot of reviews saying it runs 144hz, will see if I have any luck with that.

Well I played about with it a bit more this morning and it seems it's currently working now. I noticed I could update my bios, was on 1.8 and there was 1.D available, so updated this and thought I would give the DP cable another try and it works. I can't be sure this has completely fixed it but here's hoping.

Think I maybe spoke too soon. Everything was working fine until about 10 minutes ago, booted up my pc and got the message "out of range", which is annoying as it's been working fine since Saturday. So I swapped out the cable for the new one that arrived today, booted up and got the same issue. Although I managed to log into Windows and change it to 60hz on my 2nd monitor to get the 1st monitor working again.

I did a clean install of the latest Nvidia drivers and was getting the "out of range" issue, however the monitor turned on after 5 minutes. The following morning I got the same issue but the picture wouldn't come on, I managed to log in and changed the setting to 144hz via my 2nd monitor and it seems to have worked for the last couple days now. It seems all rather random whether it works or not, which after a lot of online reading seems to be the case for a lot of people having display port issues. At this point I'm not sure if it's a monitor/card/cable issue or a combination of factors.
