Far Far Away!
Hi there, this is my first post. Please forgive me if this has been spoken about already.

I've been looking for a 27" monitor now for a while and it seems like there is a lot of monitors out there but nothing takes my fancy, or are just tacky. I came across the Asus 278q and was rather interested. But then noticed it suffers from a rather Blue hue when the black/darks screen comes up. So it kind of put me off buying! My budget is about £250 and i really would like a monitor that can handle 2560x1440. I hope someone can tell me?

Other wise i'm thinking of saving (for a long time) for the hazro...

Any suggestions would be lovely and appreciate any answers/feedback from the 278q Asus(non webcam version) or the 276q, or any other model on my budget range.

Thanks again

Either stick with 1920x1080 or start saving up. 2560x1440 at that price isn't going to happen, not even 2nd hand unless the monitor has some kind of problem (dead pixels, 3yr+, etc, etc).

P.s: I am a general user who likes to Photoshop, game, web browse. But do spend a few hours on the computer at a time. I heard that a 1080p resolution can be a big "pixelated" and having something run at 2560x1440 is something i'd prefer. Thanks

Is it better to stick with lcd 27" or do all lcd,led suffer from the blue hazing. I was so close to buying this monitor, then i heard about TN panels and viewing angles.. Not that id be sitting sideways at the monitor but id like to know ive still spent it on something decent, even at a budget price. Theres a lot of monitors out there, and at that price, id get id like an opionion on the best 27" for my budget..

If budget is a problem and you like to game then keep in mind that you need a very good video card to play on the native resolution. I first ordered an AMD 6950 but found the performance below acceptable while it's a high-end videocard. Got an AMD 7950 now which handles games very nicely at the needed resolution but it's almost expensive as the Hazro itself.
For photoshop you do most likely want an IPS screen, perhaps you're better of getting a 24" Dell u2412m?

If you already have a powerful videocard (or SLI/XFire setup) then I would still recommend the Hazro. The resolution really is great for everything but gaming (well for gaming as well, but it does require quite a lot of power to run at decent framerates).

[edit]
I have heard of people that called a LED monitor blue'ish before but that's because they're used to a many years old CCFL backlit monitor. CCFL's tend to get weaker and yellow'ish over the years, you don't notice it yourself because it's so gradual but when you put it next to a new monitor it looks yellow'ish (warmer) or you consider the other monitor to be cold (blue'ish).

No, the u2412m is 1920x1200 (16:10) but for photoshop and webbrowsing that's an advantage, for gaming it can be an advantage or disadvantage depending on your POV. It's slightly more taxing on the videocard (compared to 1920x1080) but you do get see more in most games.

Personally.. I never look at the ASUS 278Q/276Q. Full HD monitors at 27" never interested me in the slightest and after buying a Hazro I'm never going back to a TN-panel either. That low of a resolution at the size of a monitor makes everything look like it was made for people that forget their reading glasses (text is enormous!). Of course it's also less sharp although I wouldn't call it pixelated just yet.

PS: I'm biased since I'm already used to 2560x1440 @ 27". Plenty of people that are happy with full hd monitors at that size.

Ha! I see exactly where your coming from. Well I think im going to have to save up, such a big price band for a monitor, but you get what you pay for!:p

I'll have to hope that the Hazro comes on offer at some point! Is the Hazro HZ27WC any good for gaming? forgetting the Graphics Card for the moment. I really don't want something like the Asus with the blue edges every time a dark screen comes up

Ah, blue edges.. that sounds like backlight bleed. The Hazro is quite good in that regard. Unlike my Samsungs that have a little bit of backlight bleeding going on I can't see any on my Hazro. That's a rather common problem that's found on a lot of monitors, especially the really thin ones.
