Hey I recently bought this:

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-195-AS&groupid=701&catid=56&subcat=1403

Now previously i had an 8800 GTS, i uninstalled the drivers for that then placed the new card in and the computer boots up including the windows XP screen then the screen just stays black. I can tell the computer is carrying on loading cause I can turn it off.
The same thing happens if i try loading up safe mode too, the big list of files come up then the screen stays black and again you can tell it's still booting up.

The card requires two power cables, and when i boot up the red LED's on the card flash for a second then disappear (don't know if thats gotta do with anything)

When I put the 8800 GTS back in everything boots up normally.

Here are my specs (machine is roughly 2 years old now)

AMD Athlon 64 X2 3ghz
Asus M2N-SLi deluxe motherboard
4gb RAM
500gb HD
650w Antec PSU
windows XP

i have a feeling it's the power supply, but surely 650w is good enough? Antec is a pretty good make as far as i know. I really don't wanna spend more on a power supply.

your going to need to try and get a hold of a driver cleaner to completely get rid of the drivers normal uninstallation just doesn't cut it these days. Wish Nvidia and ATI had better uninstallation utilitys.

don't think it loads up the Nvidia drivers in safe mode ...

certainly I forgot to uninstall mine after removing my 8800GTX to put in a 4890

and booted into safe mode with no problems at all

I suggest the card - or your power to the card

Try plugging your monitor into the other DVI port. I also had this, once it was booted up, the monitor would go blank.

Then I switched my TV on and the picture was there. I then realised I'd plugged the TV into port 1 and my main monitor into port 2.
