as title i have an asus 5870 v2 the non reference one and ive been trying to see how far it can overclock. i can play moh with the core set to 1040mhz but any higher and it freezes! does anyone know why this is as the temperature is only reaching 40!

yeah think that must be its upper limit but just wondered why when ive pushed the voltage up to 1.35v yet the temps are still very low! so would it go higher if i could find a way to increase the voltage?

You cannot simply overclock the card and it be fine so long as it doesn't go above a certain temperature, you will need to add voltage to keep it stable. Read up about overclocking graphics cards and don't just add a ton of volts or you will kill your card.

Edit, just saw your last post after i posted mine, you have reached the limit of the card at that voltage then.

I believe hes at the maximum voltage that afterburner allows for the 5870.

I would settle for what you have atm op as its a good gain. There could be a way to add more volts but not any way that i know.
