I bought an Asus EAH6970 from Overclockers in early June. It had a small fault when I first bought it which involved the computer crashing everytime I ran a 3D application. I thought that this was an error on my part as it was the first PC I had ever built.
I took out the card and tried an ATi 5770 but I found this to work perfectly. I tried the 6970 again a few days ago to find that it now displays every form of image with a white and black checkerboard in it's place.
I've grown a belief that it might have faulty Video RAM. The card itself has had nothing to contend with with the computer case - Took out 3 expansion slot covers in the back of the case, removed a Hard Disc Drive holding frame, removed an interior dual fan holder, placed the card within the case, plugged in two PCI-e 6+2 pins from the PSU and closed the case. The case itself is an Asus TA-M21 - I had an Asus Vento TA-M for my last computer and this hadn't caused any problems.
I was wondering if this is a fault I should take up with either Asus UK or Overclockers as I'm at wits end. I've not done anything to the card except take it out the bag, plug it into the computer and take it out again. I've also plugged in both power cables from a Cooler Master GX-750.
I'm unsure if Asus will be able to replace my product but I was wondering if there is anything Overclockers could do - I'm not expecting a refund but maybe some form of support. The Asus EAH6970 was sent from Overclockers to me on June 3rd 2011 and its the first product, of many, that I've ordered from Overclcokers but the first to develop a serious fault.
