Hey all

Right - I have an Asus a7v8x Motherboard and I have been told for games coming out in the near future I will need to get an Intel CPU instead of AMD that I have atm... is this true? And if so, will my motherboard support it?

Thanks :)

wow that's old skool!!!! uhh sorry to tell ya but it looks like an all round upgrade is what ya need.

you dont really have to have a intel chip, u can still have amd as a choice. but in answer to your question, no your mobo won't support an intel chip sadly :(

I believe the highest chip your A7V8X will support is a 3200+ AMD (Socket A). I doubt that, even with that chip in the board, it will cut the mustard for much longer.
Chances are you'll be able to continue to play games for a while longer, but the performance of new games will be all but none existant.

Your board supports AMD Socket A chips only, so no, you can not use Intel CPUs.

I really suggest upgrading, I have the a7v8x-x in my back-up server from a few years back, and it doesn't even touch games anymore :P.

Hmmm - I must have found the wrong manual to tell me what my motherboard is! It's really not that old and the one I had was the best Motherboard when the 7900 GFX series was the best!

I'll have to look around a little bit better me thinks :p
