Right, its been a busy time for me with this board.
Not in the least in taht I have also had to re-assess my Graphic cooling too, on both cards.
Anyway, the NB Cooler failed on me.
On my searches I found 2 options.
1 - Thermalright HR-05 IFX SLI
2 - Zalman ZM-NB47J
Ok, so, I got them both... I can always find a use for the other you see.
Ok, in any other option other than a flat cooler the same as the stock one, meant that the Artic coolers on the Graphics cards had to go. I went back to stock for a short while but those were naffed too and so I opted for VF700's and they seem to be doing the job nicely.
Now, the Thermalright fit ok enough, but I personally felt that it moved far too easily and was just too unstable ( physically ) and I did not like it. I stuck with it however, until I noticed one other thing... How can I get at my HDs without having to take the motherboard out of the case? - Stuff that, the HR-05 is out and I put the Zalman in.
The Zalman, had to be mounted at a funny angle, plus its missed the top GFX Card by about 2mm and the bottom one by about 1mm ( Probbaly less on both measurements )
Now, I have also decided to reinstall Windows on it, and I decided to have a play with RAID again, and so I intergrated the F6 Drivers into a new ISO of my XP64 CD along with the latest nVidia GFx and Chipset drivers etc, and I have installed and activated and its all spanky.
However, I have noticed that the whole PC is sluggish. When I say sluggish, I mean when oyu move the mouse, it sort of stop-starts all the time 2 or 3 times a second.
I have seen this before and its not much of a problem and drivers often cure it, but I have gone through a few drivers now and it has not helped.
I even went back to basics and did a standard install and then upped the drivers that way but its still there?
I just cannot cure it?
I was thinking... Could this have anything to do with the NB Cooling?
The previous owner of this Mobo has used some kind of compuound to stick the original NB cooler on and its near to impossible to shift it and I decided to leave it alone and there is a very high chance that the Zalman is not 100% fitting well? - could that cause the system to jerk like it does?
Anythign you can advise on in this area, I would be grateful to hear.
