hi

Im wanting to build a new system soon and can't decide which mobo to go for. I will mainly be using the system for video editing, gaming and a bit of overclocking. The choices are:

Asus A8N32-SLi Deluxe nForce4 SLi X16
DFI LanParty NF4 SLI-DR EXPERT

Unless someone can recommend a better board to suit these needs

cheers

yea Asus build good quality boards for mild overclocking, but DFI are exellent and will overclock a lot further. There will be a (very) slight improvment in performance as well on the dfi aswell (or there is in certain benchmarks)

Another vote here for the DFI Expert, its a superb board, got an opty 165 running @ 2.7 , this board is great for overclocking and very stable IMO.

Went for the a8n32 myself and the only thing holding my opty back is the opty itself, not the mobo.

Running opty [email protected] 24/7 24hrs p95 stable.

Whichever motherboard you go for you will no doubt be impressed as both are great for overclocking. The DFI experts have more settings but has also killed a few cpus (bad batch or bad user...who knows) I believe but are also harder to get stable if you are not profficient in 'the dark arts' so in short if you want easy overclocks go with the asus. If you want EVERY option available but the headaches that go with it go for the DFI.

If your after painless install i'd suggest going for the asus as i installed the dfi expert in my computer yesterday- and it did take a good amount of playing around and driver changes to get it stable at stock

What made me choose the dfi expert though was its oc'ing ability as im running a fx60, also the dfi expert looks nicer (im into uuuuuvvvvvv).

lol...Yeah the DFI is deffo the board to go for if you like UV...if you like shiny copper goodness then get the asus (although mines hidden in a p180 :p ).

The MSI Diamond Plus is also meant to be a cracker with similar bios to the dfi and better than asus for overclocking... maybe it should slot in between them two really...

Have read one review suggesting they reached 360mhz.. and the featureset looks great... MSI on their website and the bios suggest it could reach 450mhz but I have my doubts!!

Im in two minds over this and the dfi... I would hardly buy a board cos of what it looked like though.. uv or no uv!!!

Im suprised Ocers has not got this board yet....

A8N32 for the win!

"The Asus A8N32-SLI is also a monster overclocker, reaching the highest overclock ever with our stock CPU and to 310FSB with a reduced multiplier. If you compare this performance to our other reviews of recent Asus Socket 939 boards, you may wonder if they were produced by the same company. Asus has become serious about Athlon 64, and it shows in the design, execution and performance of the A8N32-SLI Deluxe."

My vote goes to the ASUS A8N-SLI Premium, it will do everything you ask of it, it a monster layout, great bundle, supports eight sata disks and is *Mature*

Went for the DFI.. workin a treat!!!! 2.6ghz witn my opty without even breaking a sweat!!! Didnt even have to mess about with anything other than up the speed from default 200 to 260.. the rest was auto....

If theres one thing i definitely hate about that a8n32 its the darn location of the pci slots in between the sli pciex16 slots if i stick a 1900xtx into it. it blocks them less room for expandability even tho pci is on its way out there are very little pcie cards surfacing and placing an xfi sound card plus a wifi card is impossible (when heat is taken into account) with a dual slot graphics card ie 1900xtx, Cant fault the Expert board for this!
