Hi all, any help is most appreciated.

The problem is when i turn my PC on the Boot sequance will get stuck just after the bit where it says "ACPI Controller", it just freezes.

If I hit the reset button it will boot ok the second time.

First I thought it may be the Hard drives not spinning up quick enough so I disabled quick boot so it would do the memory count and give everything time to warm up, but this did'nt help.

Any idea's guys???

It has SATA on it but I am not using it at all, only using IDE drives.

Is their a list some where of things it is safe to disable in the bios, while I know a fare bit about PC's and PC hardware I am not to hot on Bios settings i'm afraid.

Not really.

This board (A8N5X) has Serial ATA RAID.

If your not using the sata, disable it in the BIOS.

Read the motherboard manual long and hard :)

You may well find that you can't disable SATA just like that.
It may be something like SATA DMA transfers.
It could also be the boot sequence (its looking for something that isn't there!

I haven't got this manual (or BIOS screen) in front of me, but anything you are not using just disable.
If your NOT sure, post it on here and someone will prolly help.

BTW, do you have any PCI cards in this PC, as some of the slots are shared, and that can annoy ACPI.

Yes, Funny I thought of this as well just before reading your post LOL.

I have a Sound card in the very bottom PCI slot, I think i'll try removing it and see if it boots fine, if it does i'll try putting it into another slot and see what happens.

THing is thats the only PCI card in their, not counting the PCIEX graphics card that is.
