hi guys, just decided to install windows 7 on a spare pc but iv encountered problems.
the mobo is an asus a8v vm se.
the 2 main problems............
1. the sound drivers i used are realtek 2.39 but most of the time when i reboot they are uninstalled

2. it only has the standard vga gfx drivers i cant seem to find the correct drivers for the onbard graphics and subsequently the screen keeps going blank then showing the desktop.

can anyone advise?

I have the ASUS 8AV ( AMD type) 939 mobo

What I would suggest is that if you have not done so already, is format that drive and do a clean install of windows 7 (if you are installing the full retail version and not the upgrade)

Don't know why you want to use onboard graphics though. Why not use a proper graphics card ? Install the drivers for the graphic card and the onboard sound from safe mode then reboot.

cheers for your reply, firstly its just a spare pc im giving away to my dad and i dont have a spare gfx card so it has to be onboard. iv been to the asus site and have had no joy with any driver. what are you using as drivers for the mobo, gfx and sound, they are the problem areas for me as i lost the disc.

any help much appreciated

oh and iv reformatted it about 7 times in 2 days lmao

As far as I'm aware the A8V does not have a builtin graphics (I have always had to use a graphics card to connect my monitor to it, though I guess you might have a different variation of mobo that I didn't know about).

This is my full spec that I posted a few months ago.

For sound I used the builtin sound for about 4 years till I switched to an external USB soundcard called the Audio Roady http://www.etcetera.co.uk/products/VOY034.shtml

R2.40 is latest, grab it from the realtek site. www.realtek.com.tw
go through downloads>hi definition audio codecs and accept the bumf. download the exe version and run it. 2.40 cleared up loads of problems for me.
