Asus A8V + RAM problem

Lo all

I've got an Asus A8V, XP3200+ and 2x 1GB of Corsair XMS RAM.

I have the RAM set in the two blue slots of the motherboard and have it set to DDR400 in the BIOS with T2 off.

Recently I've been getting hangs, BSOD and generally crashes.

I took out one of the sticks and everything started running fine. To double check that it wasn't faulty RAM I put the stick that was working into the slot of the stick that I removed and everything started cocking up again.

I can only assume that it's a faulty RAM slot in the motherboard.

I was just wondering what the best configuration would be now that I can't use that slot.

There are 4 slots but only two (the blue ones) work at DDR400 (unless I'm mistaken.

So would I be better off with:

One stick in the working blue slot?

One stick in the blue and one in the black?

Both in the two black slots?

I would replace the motherboard but I'm saving up for a Macbook Pro at the moment and so I wasn't going to spend any more on this computer.

Cheers for any advice.
