i have a asus a8v/939 3500 cpu/1g corsair select...i believe this pc as been overclocked from new but don't know where too look for too find the cpu speed so i can possibly try and get a little more from it??what was the standard clock speed??

any ideas please??

many thx tetras..

used cpu-z and found out i have a 3500 newcastle running at 2202.8...which ,by my reckonin ,isn't overclocked at all!!can i o/clock this system using the bios...should i update bios first??

being a little impatient...i've gone into the bios and using the adaptive overclocking.i've upped the speed by 3%...when i then logged on it can up with a cpu fan error..made a noise??then asked still to load windows...i said yes and now everything seems ok..i'm now running at 2266...without doing anything other than making a simple change in the bois...seems too easy this...is it acceptable/ok???

any help appreciated..

on closer inspection..i can now see the cpu fan case is quite badly cracked on one corner..surely this can't be cause i've o/clocked the cpu..i've never noticed it before..nor as it come up on boot that there is a cpu fan fault...is this a coincidence??

Unrelated to your overclocking.
Replace the fan before it stops working all together.. Do you know what size it is?
