Just playing around with the overclocking software that comes with the Asus boards.

Tried AI Gear 2 - moving the 'stick' from performance highest to lowest drops the voltage to the E6850 from 1.328v to 1.176v

No issues with this I assume...? I.e. for use when web browsing etc. Speedstep already drops the multiplier to 6 giving 2GHz instead of 3GHz - this takes down the voltage too.
 
Yep, I know, but this gives the ability to drop whilst in Windows, i.e. for browsing when I don't need the chip running at max speed and volts...

I.e. cooler and less power being wasted
 
If you overclock in the bios but leave speedstep on it will still drop down to slow speeds when its not in use.
