Hi,

i'm after a bit of help/information! I have a new hard drive coming tomorrow and want to set up raid 0 on my ASUS P5B.

Has anybody set up a raid 0 on this board? I need to know which ports to plug the HD in to i.e. use 2 of the red (intel) ports or the black one labelled RAID?

Also how do I get into the RAID controller setup once i've plugged the drives in?

Any info would be appreciated as reading other articles/forums has just confused me!!

Is it a plain P5B? If so it only supports RAID across the one black internal port and the eSATA port, which is possibly the daftest arrangement in the history of the world.

Oh it can be done but one drive has to be internal on the black port and the other external on the eSATA port. The Intel ports don't support RAID on the plain P5B.

I can't believe it!

thanks for informing me. Why have they done that? It doesn't make sense!

Anyway can anybody suggest a decent priced motherboard that supports raid, a q6600 and 4gb of ram?

Cheers

Asus P5K-E :) - although, from the OcUK prices I wouldn't buy one. Got mine for £80 about 4 months ago. :S

Yeh i've just looked at them and they seem abit pricey for what is pretty much the same motherboard!!

Any other suggestions?

I dont know what else to recommend. Look at the P35 section and do some research in to what board supports raid (more than likelly all of them), and decide on how much you want to spend.

Trifid - great idea! Think I rushed into the idea of buying a new mobo!

Could you point me in the right direction as i've never looked into these before?

Thank you
