Asus Ares

About the same power draw as a 480 then.:D

Hopefully if will not be ridiculously priced as the sapphire 4GB 5970 was.

Reading the article they say it wont be the highest clocked 5970, uh? What is the point then??

"David Yang from the company's VGA division told us that despite the fact the stock clock of the card is lower than the Sapphire and XFX competition, the Ares is designed to be more usable straight out the box. David explained that Asus wanted a quieter, cooler card that would last longer, rather than something to just win benchmarks by a few percent."

WTF!

read somewhere that it works fine with 1x 8 pin and 1x 6 pin,

just use the second 8 pin if you intend on overclocking it to extreme amounts

That does seem strange since afterall, the point of the card is probably for the highest benchmark score. But I bet there is still a lot of headroom left in it for users to do it themselves.

hdmi, dvi and dp?

That's a shame, you're limited to 1920x1200 eyefinity. If you had enough to drop on this card, chances are you have enough to drop on 3x30".
