Hi My works computer gave up the ghost and basically all it does is turn on to the asus splash screen with the words "del" and F12 at the bottom but it wont do anything it just sits there.

Ive done the following so far to test for faults;

removed harddrive
Removed All Ram it beeped
inserted individual sticks (2x512) into different slots
Inserted some spare 512 ram and nothing still the same
cleared Cmos
Removed cpu and rehoused and still the same?

cant really test anything else atm, I may be able to get a spare psu later. but I dont think its the Psu (250W) and what are the chances of a Cpu failure (Athlon X2 3800) AM2.

I was thinking of getting a cheap AM2 Board with half decent graphics built in, if this is the case what board would you recommend.

Thanks, I cant really get to test on a AM2 board not many people I know have 1 or / are willing to dismantle it for testing. My employer wants it asap as he runs his company from this pc and laptop, As you say its down to board or cpu I have explained that if he needs a new cpu still after getting a new board he doesnt mind paying up £40 say for his old chip. the board is a pile of @#$ anyway :D and wouldnt harm having an upgrade

Thanks again, Its all setup and works a treat. Power meter plug shows its actively using only 50 to 80watts of power while idle. Will advise he upgrades his 1Gb of Ram Zzz Windows 7 uses 70% of memory. :D
