ASUS ATI 6970 - overclock?!

hi guys, new user here

not sure if this should be in this section or overclocking section :S

just built myself a gaming PC with an ASUS 6970, ive managed to overclock my CPU (2500K) easily but im having trouble with the graphics card!

ive seen many people overclock theirs to the maximum it allows you in CCC (950/1450) but if i try even 910 for the core clock the driver crashes and has to restart when i do any sort of testing on it, eg furmark/3dmark 11

ive tried purely using CCC and also using smart doctor and raising the voltage from 1.175 to 1.3V!! and it still crashes!

any ideas?

Check to make sure your power control setting is at +20% in CCC

ahhh ok, ill whack that upto 20%

do i need to increase the voltage with smart doctor aswell or just crank it upto 950/1450 in CCC?
