So decided to do a bios update after I was advised it's best to and that very little goes wrong doing so...

We'll seems my bad luck says otherwise.

I didn't go for the latest update marked as beta I went for the one prior to minimize anything going wrong. Obviously that worked out really well for me

Followed the instructions, using the ezupdate. Computer restarted but never came back on. Looking at the motherboard it's stuck on red light and has been so for about 15 minutes now.

It seems to long now so I assume something has gone wrong,

Anyone know how I unbrick the motherboard?

According to Asus the b650 gaming plus has a bios flash button so you can reflash the bios by pressing the button on The rear of the motherboard.

Follow the instructions in the manual but don't use beta bios

The instructions in the manual are pretty poor. Says press and hold the button for 3 seconds then a light will appear. What light?

And should the pc be turned on prior to touching this button.

I'm not using a beta bios file.

This is really stressing me out

Clear the CMOS on the motherboard by removing the battery and unplugging the power cord, there may be a jumper on the motherboard you need to switch over

Bios flash button instructions

Christ that was a panick.

Clearing the CMOS seems to have worked, I'm now in windows, will restart a couple of times to make sure it will boot every time.

The bios is now the latest non beta version. Don't think I want to update again.

Just want to say all is well and thanks for people's help.

I was stressing quite a bit and all rationale went out the window
We've all been there  To be fair it's a lot harder to brick something than it used to be. Glad you got it sorted, I'll be doing the same this weekend.

Are backup bios still a thing for this situation? We all cross our fingers we don't get a power cut when flashing :)
Not all motherboard manufacturers have a backup BIOS option and asus is one that is in that category.

Also as advise to the OP, unless something is wrong that requires a BIOS update to fix don't touch it (if it's not broken don't try to fix it).

this is the stance I took from the outset, unfortunately however I was suffering instability and the motherboard was still on day 1 release bios.

The stability does appear to have improved now though.

You have flashback, you can't brick it with a bad flash, Christ you don't even need a CPU or RAM installed to flash the BIOS now.
