My own head
I have a Asus B650E-E motherboard, and having some random issues with the wifi controller.

While normally playing a game, suddenly my internet is lost. On looking at the WIFI section in windows it then reports no WiFi networks at all (usually a dozen), requiring a reboot to fix.

In event viewer, I see these around the times of it dying
MediaTek Wi-Fi 6E MT7922 (RZ616) 160MHz Wireless LAN Card : Has determined that the network adapter is not functioning properly.

Anyone come across this or a potential fix? Very frustrating bug, basically means I can't game.

  1. I would update to the latest MTK WiFi driver 3.3.0.713 For Windows 10/11 64-bit.
  2. Then update to the latest AMD Chipset Driver V5.03.24.2328 For Windows 10/11 64-bit.

Is that an onboard thing, or an external card? Could it be overheating when you game due to heat near the chip?

Always worth checking in device manager
That allow windows to turn off this device is unticked
In power management section of network device

I have that turned off also, was a suspicion.

This is my running theory also, it happens during gaming sessions, after some time. It's.on the motherboard but don't think there is a temp sensor on it.

Will look at mobo manual and see where the chip is living.

For anyone who comes across this, I think I've fixed this.

After a lot of googling I came across new drivers (not on Asus) that are a later version.

So if you're on B650E-E (possibly all as they use Mediatek) then maybe update your drivers if you're also having issues.

I did not fix this... I'm done with this motherboard and going to another brand I think. No more mediatek.

Incredibly frustrating to have your wifi vanish during a game until reboot.

Assuming you can't run ethernet cable to the pc
Probably cheaper and easier rather than
Replace motherboard
To get a WiFi card
Or usb wifi
Or even a cheap router that supports being a WiFi access point
Think my £30 hauwei ax3 can do that
Though not actually tried it

Yeah, taken plunge for Intel WIFI card instead. 50 quid but less hassle.

My running theory is back to heat problems with the WIFI chip which is nuts because of the size of the heatsink on the B650E-E.

Still angry given the price of these boards, it'll be an avoid for me now with Asus boards and the mediatek controller.

Yeah you shouldn't need to be buying anything
No matter the price of the motherboard
What comes on it should work
Touch wood but no issues with my WiFi or ethernet
With the cost of my asus crosshair viii extreme though
There definitely shouldn't be
Asus definitely getting a lot of bad publicity right now though

Yeah just unfortunate, I had dreams of using it all on board as have new gigabit going in which will work nice with the 6e.

In an ideal world run a cable but that's a lot of faff in a townhouse, won't catch me up an 8m ladder!

Been up a 13m triple ladder
When I was a lot younger and fitter
But I was ######## myself the whole time
So yeah don't blame you for not wanting to do that
I would throw it out the top window
And just staple it top and bottom
And anywhere it was near a window in-between

Hopefully the card you ordered does the job instead

Unfortunately, it has not.

I changed my entire case airflow last night to intake at back/top and exhaust through front thinking it could be temps, but still some weird behaviour.

I'm seeing IDLE of 75c on chipset which seems way too high to me (xHCI). I need to run it a bit to see if it still crashes in games.

Ran Memtest last night and that found no issues with a single pass.

Does seem rather high
Assuming the temperature is being
Reported correctly

Guess trying the new WiFi card in gaming
Under same circumstances as before
Will be the test
