As the title suggests i updated my bios earlier for no rother reason really than to update. I did this using the asusupdate software.

Things all ran smoothly, restarted so the settings would take affect....monitor doesnt kick in.

So basically I was hoping someone could help me get the old drivers back or get my pc running again somehow...anyhow.

I've tried reseating all the cards. Also reset the CMOS but nothing has changed.

Pc boots normally, all normal sounds but still no monitor.

Please help :(

Unlucky mate :(

On some Bios's if you hold a key, such as Insert it will ask for a disc which should contain an older BIOS. Never done this my self before, maybe someone could shed some light.

Unfortunatly if you've tried clearing the CMOS and it still not booting you'll need to get a new BIOS sent to you (assuming you don't have a dual BIOS mb). Report it on the ASUS site.

Oh and in future don't update in windows, its got a tendancy to screw things up. Best off using the awdflash method, or the update thing in the BIOS (forget the name)

Which board is it?

I have an ASUS board and the BIOS has a tool built in called EZIBIOS I think it's called. From there you can install your new bios via floppy, USB or even hdd.

With my ASUS board, if the bios gets messed up, all you have to do is put the cd that came with the board in, and then it will reflash the board back to the original bios.

Cheers for all the replies guys, went to bed earlier due to being extremely annoyed as I need my pc for coursework.

The board is an ASUS a8n-sli deluxe.

Basically the monitor just hangs in standby and wont change, the mobo cd in or me holding keys or whatnought.

Gonna try some of your solutions now...don't really understand some of them though, you will be hearing from me again no doubt!

Oh and also im a nubbert so don't know exactly what dual BIOS is but from what I can guess i am unhelpful enough not to have it.

Looking around the ASUS website i can't find anyway to get a BIOS sent out to me. I suppose even then i don't have a floppy disk drive which wouldn't help i imagine.

I do have a crap wee USB key thing though which could be used to store files i need on. But im at a loss for understanding half this stuff, never been stuck in a similar situation before.

Got the AWDFLASH thing on my usb now...but i don't really understand how i am meant to use it, with the monitor not kicking in, surely theres no way to bios for me and therefore no software solutions?

think i worked out what i've done wrong, I think my chipset wasnt recent enough for the BIOS update - smart cookie i am :( but that dosnt really help me with any potential solutions. Monitor works fine on another pc so its definately finding someway of reverting to old BIOS

Thanks for any help you can provide

i don't understand how that will help either if i have no video output

They'll send the physical BIOS chip which you'll need to open the case up and swap out for the toasted one.

I was trying to get the direct link for you to log a support call, however the asus site is being its usual un responsive self

Its somewhere on http://support.asus.com/default.aspx?SLanguage=en-us

Im with you now, thank you very much for the help. Looks like my coursework marks shall suffer :(
