Ok here's the two components in question.

ASUS P5N32-E SLI PLUS

OCZ 2GB (2 x 1GB) PC2-6400 Dual Channel Platinum Revision 2 XTC Series DDR2

I get the two and I'm suddenly hearing about a QVL (Qualified Vendors List)... which, after 30 minutes of rummaging through Asus' diabolical labyrinth of a website, I finally found. Disaster, OCZ's not on it.

How bad is it gonna be if I try and use this RAM.. are we talking a computer that simply won't boot, or is it all going to explode?

Any advice or am I stuck with 2 gigs or worthless ram?

If there is a problem then it just won't boot. No damage will be done.

But I doubt you will have any problems tbh.

good to know. Tbh even if the RAM doesn't work I should be able to sell it on if necessary, or find another use for it. Just wanted to make sure it wasn't gonna damage the dimm slot or something.

thanks :)

Have you received it yet?

I would return it to the shop if it doesn't boot. The 14 day rule, and the fact that you don't cause any damage when opening the OCZ packaging, means that you could just swap it for another brand.
