Hi,

My grandads Asus C223N Chromebook has stopped powering. I done the usual checks for him and it turns out the AC Adapter is fine so its 100% something with the chromebook itself.

When the AC Adapter plugs in the battery light doesn't show.

I tried even disconnecting the battery to run only off AC power but it still doesn't show any life.

The chromebook has two points for the AC adapter, one of them looks damaged. I tried the other one and still no luck so assuming this is some sort of power failure on the motherboard.

Does anyone know what components I should look at to see if anything has fried out that needs replaced? I have a multi-meter and have done some small soldering jobs before, I am just at a loss were to start.

Sorry if this is something that normally isn't posted here I've just used OC for long enough I know 99% of the time I get help no problem (if there is somewhere better to try please PM me).

Thanks

Perhaps one of the power connections has shorted on the pc board? Need to check each one. Can you take case base off Chromebook? Is voltage correct on power lead ( usually around 19V?) .

The AC Adapter is 100% working. I tested it with my son's Nintendo Switch (which worked) and I tested his charger with the Chromebook (which didn't). This narrowed it down to Chromebook hardware.

Do you have any info on how I can use a multimeter to test both of the charging ports and also what they connect to just incase a small component can be re soldered on?
I have done some soldering work so I dont mind attempting it as at this point its worthless anyway.

Do you have any way of checking the charger voltage when it's plugged in. If a socket is damaged then some protection circuitry in the charger may reduce the volts to zero.

Not sure m8.

I have a multi meter but I need guidance on what to check.

I also found a schematic to download but again not sure where I should check.

As both ports dont work and no power LED (even with a working charger) I assume something on the board is fried and needs replaced.

All help appreciated:(
