Behind you... Naked!
Just wondering.
I dont have the original CD for the D2X and the Asus site only seems to have the basic drivers, so is there any way that I can get hold of the control panel software for the D2X SoundCard anywhere else?

How do you mean the Asus site only has basic drivers? From what I've experienced in the past, Xonar drivers and CP are in one complete download and installation.

Have you tried them, or you're just assuming they are basic because they are small download size? You might be used to Creative drivers which last time I used them, back in the X-Fi years, were huge and full of unnecessary bloat nonsense. :p

No, of course I have tried them, the drivers themselves seem to work well enough, but there is no actual control panel for the card that installs with them, like there is with most other cards. I have access to just the bare basics of the capabilities of the card and nothing else.

I use the Xonar Unified drivers, I find them much better than the official drivers from Asus which are still beta under Windows 10.

Ok thanks, I wil definitely grab these for sure.
Drivers on this card seem to work just fine though!

Now, I have a Strix that is packed up because its a load of crud, so if these drivers solve that... Hmmm... LOL

The D2X drivers include the control console, so something is up with your system if it's not showing up.

OK. Fair enough. Just seems odd to me. Having had three Xonar cards over the years, I've never had just drivers only, from the Asus site. The control panel has always been part of the same download and installation.

Didn't have a D2 or D2X though; maybe something strange going on with that one in particular, or as rids said, maybe it's something going on with your system as to why the CP isn't showing up.

Anyway, Unified ones are the best and only alternative. I tended to use them, even though I never had any issues with the Asus ones. They won't work for the Strix though. They're for Xonar cards only and a few other C-Media based ones. Not sure if anyone will do modified ones for the Strix cards.

Ok guys, yes, yo uare right, the control panel has indeed come with the drivers.
I was expecting the icon to appear in the bottom right of the taskbar like it does on the other Asus cards.

Now, I have tried both those unified drivers and the standard ones, and I have found the control panel has been installed, however, it wont run?

I have also gone into the folder, and double-clicked on it and as admin, but it does nothing?

I did also try the Strix card too, but I forgot to connect the 6-pin power to that, and to be honest, I was not really that bothered to dig one out and so what I am going to do shortly, is see if I can fully kill off all the gharb to do with the D2X and have another shot, but only using the unified drivers, andsee how I far I get. If I dont succeed then I might plonk it into the Media PC and play about on a whole other PC.

Ah Idiot mode in my head seemed to have been left on "AGAIN"

Control panel is up and running just fine with the Unifieddrivers... I did not select the card in the list...I think that might be the reason why it didnt do anything? Its working a treat now, so great.

Thanks for everything guys!

Glad you got it working, after all the hassle you had with the Strix. So far, the Strix range looks like a pointless one to me. Old Xonar's still working great, while the new range has a pile of issues. :p

Absolutely.
I was massively upset with the strix, and I would love to find a solution, but Im unsure one actually exists.
Wht is even more irritating, is that the suppliers of the card will only trade it in for another one, not refund me, and I have contacted ASUS about it and I am still waiting to hear what they have to say.
What is more annoying, is that my ASUS Mobos are nothing short of brilliant, but their Audio cards have taken a huge dive lately.
