I bought a new Asus EN8800GT for a new build for a Christmas present for my cousin. Anyway it was the one with the Company of Hero's opposing forces design. Every report/review I have ever read on the card states it is a single slot soloution with the COH design on the cooler like this.



Well you can imagine my disbelief when I got a dual slot soloution with a big copper fan? wtf do they have 2 cards in supply?

Has anyone else had this?
 
Hey man, unfortunately someone already asked about this on these very forums, it would appear this new copper fan cooling solution is the same on the 512 and 1gb cards now since they have done away with the reference design :( sucks I know if you wanted a single slot device! Does the fan....JUST....become obtrusive to the slot below?
 
Nope, it engulfs it. I can hardly get anything into the SECOND PCI slot - that's how big it is. Think X1800XT on a pie diet.
 
None of the retail sites i've checked mention this design change on the Asus 8800GT's so they all bad as eachother. Asus own website and the review's ive seen of course mention new & improved cooler design...
 
TBH im not really fussed about the new cooler, even though its not single slot.

If i can get a few extra clocks out of the card without having to rip of the stock cooler and void my warranty, im all for it. :D
 
unlucky mate,i will swap you anytime for my 3 week old sinlge slot solution though.Can you not return it if you bought it online under the distance laws,although it would be a bad turn around with christmas so close..
