Hi guys ive had my Asus 7970 Direct CU ii for a couple of months now and apart from an initial tinker with it in the Asus Tweak software its been running at standard clocks.

However, even if I jam the sliders all the way to the max in Asus tweak it doesn't give that much of a boost.

Im using CCC overdrive at the moment its at 1100/1575 is there anyway I can go further using a different piece of software?
I didn't see much point using afterburner as I believe this card is voltage locked.

Also since I only have a smallish case (300r) im worried about stuffing 2 of these 3 slot monsters in there, what other 7970 would make a good companion for this card?

Cheers.

Is your the top edition.

Got a top myself and they are voltage and max clock locked

However there are other biases available and a quick flash will see you well beyond those limits

Had mine up at 1300 with unlocked voltage

Yeah it all came through the live.co.uk account, im back at work now so ill have a bash at oc'ing when i get in later tonight.

Quick question, whats the max safe voltage for this card?

Once again thanks mate and if i run into problems you can be sure ill be pestering you lol

I've got this card too. Picked it up for £220ish recently.
I wanted more than two DP ports and this card was the ticket, so I swooped in and bought one at that price.

I found that downloading VBE from here and ATI WinFlash 2.3.0 did the trick.

However, I've not really done much with it. I increased the power and voltage, however, GPU Tweak won't let me go past 1125MHz even though CCC sees that I can ramp the GPU up to 1500MHz.

Tweak does give you more options with Memory voltage and VDDCi voltage adjustment that you don't get with BIOS editing.

I need to do more reading some time though, there's stuff that I've seen mentioned about ASIC quality and core voltage and what kind of memory chips come on these cards. As well as what VDDCi is. Lots to learn, hopefully you can update us on how you get on Nick :)

PersoNally I would t go beyond. 1.35 preferably sub 1.3 and keeping an eye on temps especially if your running 24/7

Us top owners need to stick together

Let us know how the bios flash goes just remember and check those bios versions before you flash don't want you running into problems. :(
