Hi,
Anyone else have this router and find it when first switched on it sometimes struggles to connect to DSL and/or the Wifi signals can stop working, requiring the switch on the back to be switched to off and then back to on position to get the wifi stable? Once I have the unit stable it works great but if I power down, when I power it back on again it can struggle with internet access and also the wifi can stop working. Today I had to go into admin and then force a connect, even though the last time I used it the router connected automatically. Not had it long but not found a method where everything just works when first switched on.

The broadband speed where I am isn't great and with the last router it sometimes stopped working for a min or two (presumably until the router redialled) so that accounts for the internet access to some extent (although I never had to force my old unit to connect), but not the wifi. A few times now shortly after switching on the router the wifi signals stop working. If I leave the unit on and just switch wifi off and then back on again it works perfectly until I power down again - by why doen't it just work perfectly when first switched on?!?!

I have updated the firmware to the latest version and then restored defaults but same thing happens. DOn't think it's a problem with the hardware but seems like software/firmware a bit dodgy? Bought it to replace a Netgear WAG320 and although the mixed 2.4/5ghz of the Asus is brilliant when it's up and running reliability, but otherwise the old WAG320N is more stable but that only works at 2.4ghz or 5ghz not both, hence a reason I upgraded to what I thought would be much better.

Any thoughts? I don't think I will return it as I can get it stable but the thing is a bit volatile when first started, either struggle to connect to the internet or wifi signals stop working.

In this case I'd say *** the environment and leave it switched on (as most people do). If nothing else it'll provide you with a small amount of heat now that Winter is getting close.

Turning off an ADSL router everyday makes your ISP think there's a problem with your line, so they'll lower your speed in an effort to make it more stable.

Leave it on 24/7

They use very little power

I have the same router, it's been pretty flawless for me. Latest firmware is 3.0.0.4.374_159

Annex A = UK

Left it on overnight and able to connect with no issues at all this morning so thanks all - I'll just do that from now on. I did upgrade the firmware and have now done a hardware reset by holding in the reset button rather than 'reset to default' via the admin app which is what I did after upgrading it as soon as I got it. Not sure if that has made a difference but will find out if/when I do turn it off and back on again in the future - it's been left on since the reset.

You can use the switch on back to turn off wireless overnight without turning off device. If that helps meet you in the middle.

-you can also use the scheduler in the firmware to turn off the Wireless between certain times.
