Right - I know this has been done to death but I am using catalyst 9.10. Any attempts to upgrade result in catalyst not working/loading and the system not have the right driver. Before I do something drastic with card (possibly involving some sort of industrial smashing tool) can someone tell me: faulty board OR crap drivers?

If its driver issue will wait for a new revision of catalyst, however I do not want to miss my rma window if its a faulty board?

Much obliged for your continue dhelp and support guys!

Edit - card now seated under my chop saw for immediate grizzly end

Go to device manager and right click on the display adapter. Go to Properties and then click on the driver tab. Then click on update driver and browse manually for the drivers.

The file name with the latest 9.12 drivers is something like this: C:\ATI\Support\9-12_vista64_win7_64_dd_ccc_wdm_enu\Driver\Packages\Drivers\Display\W76A_INF

I had the same problem as you with my ASUS EAH5750 and this is the only way I seem to be able to update drivers. The problem is that I still can't get CCC to work but the drivers themselves are detected correctly by MSI Afterburner.

I was hoping to have catalyst working aswell. I'm hoping its just a driver issue and my fault for buying such a brand new card...... rather than sticking with a 4890 for the time being.

Anyone now can I use the latest driver with an older catalyst in so much as manually updating the driver in the device manager using the latest file, and then using my existing installed catalyst 9.10?

Yes you can use the latest drivers with an already installed CCC, the Driver Packaging Version will just get updated to 8.681, to show that you are running the 9.12 drivers. :)

Well, have had a response fomr ocuk who are of the opinion that drivers are the issue with the card. I'm very surprised how quiet ati are on the matter and now ponder but one question....stick it out with the 5770 or change to something else? Any thoughts anyone?

Also, on a side note, this ruby doll toy thing I had with it, is it ever likely to be of any value or shall I just go right ahead and bin it now?

I'm running Windows 7 pro 64bit with all the latest chipset drivers bios etc. Sinc ehaving to do a full reinstall I've only used the vga driver from the asus disc and works good (cat 9.10). 11+12+htofix none of these work for me, pinning my hopes on 10.1

Just posted this in another thread, give it a try.

Don't use driversweepers. Ever.

Go to Control Panel - System - Advanced System Settings - Hardware (tab) - Device Installation Settings, choose "Never install a driver from Windows Update and apply.

Uninstall Driversweeper and slap your forehead.

Express uninstall all ATI software from add remove programs.

Reboot.

Let Windows install WDDM drivers automatically.

Reboot if asked.

Go to device manager and remove your card from there selecting delete driver software from this pc as you go.

Roboot

If windows installs WDDM drivers again repeat above step until windows stops auto installing drivers and asks you for them instead.

This should reset your borked driver profile in Windows, and you should be able to install the 9.12's now.

Once you've done this you will find you can update drivers without uninstalling first with no issues. Every time you uninstall drivers now Windows will load in VGA mode and ask you for drivers which is how it should be.

I think I may just skip the 9.12's altogether and either try new with 10.1 or even wait til 10.2. Built the rig to start playing aliens vs predator 3 which isn't out til next month so got some time.

I notice though that the drivers and ccc from asus have a different task bar icon to the normal ati one, or has it changed. I've come fomr an odl rig with an X1950 pro so assuming times moved on!

The plot thickens. I was initially waiting for 10.1 but just checked ASUS'S support site and they released new 5770 drivers yesterday. Uninstalled ccc and installed the new package and it effortlessly updated drivers and the ccc. However, if I were to do the same with ccc direct form ati I get huge problems. Any thoughts?

Possibly something conflicting with the ATI drivers from the asus one's?
Although these should be the same thing.
