Hi all i just recently finished building a new computer from scratch and atm am very pleased with it (except HDDs as they need upgrading).

I built a system consisting of:

Intel i7 920 D0 @ 4.01GHz CPU
6GB Patriot Viper Low LAtency 1600MHz Tri channel RAM
Gigabyte X58A-UD3R Motherboard
Corsair H-50 Water cooling
Antec TreuPower New 650 PSU
Antec 1200 Gaming case

and in this iv Slotted a Asus EAH5870 V2 GPU.

The reason im asking questions is im new to the latest generations of gaming quality parts, as my last build was in the fall of 2006 (IC2D 4gb ram and a 3850 gpu lol ).

My first question is what settings do u run CatalystControlCentre fan settings at (Manual auto and the percentage u use.)

Also ur idle/load temps at base and OC values.

also the major settings in ur third party software like Smart doctor or MSI tools like ur fan settings nad ur voltages.

Im running my Clock at 920mhz and my ram at 4900mhz with a core voltage of 1.224volts.

My temps are 44/45oc idle and 59/60oc at full load in GTA IV at Very high settings.

Any feedback would be great from any 5870 owner as im trying to learn the thresholds of my card and also if its running as it should be.

Thanks in advance

Kind regards, Sean.

Yeah I run MSI afterburner for overclocking and for a custom fan profile that ramps up earlier with temps than the automatic fan. Temps at idle are 38c and max of 70c with 1000 GPU @ 1270v MEM 1250.
