Hi,

I have an eeepc 1000, I upgraded it to a 5400rpm 250gb and 2gb of ram. Their is very little HD ventilation so my HD idles at 45-48 and can go upto 55 at load. Its within spec just! I am not sure I would want to put a 7200 in there. Also I cant see a need! the netbook itselft isnt the quickest but great for surfing/watching movies/playing music/office etc.

Also it ships with a super hybrid engine which allows you to adjust the clock speed. There is 3 settings, power saver (underclocked for better batt life), high power (standard atom clocks) and super performance (overclocked). I mostly use it in power saver as it copes with my average use (ie watching movies/surfing/DLing) and up it to super mode if unraring etc.

I get over 5 hours battery life in power saver mode.
