Hi all,

Not being able to afford one of the better netbooks coming out (unless one stuns me soon with it's excellent screen and battery life at ~£200), I'm looking at possible a 701, maybe second-hand.

HOWEVER I've heard the battery life wasn't even great even with a 7" screen, and that the batteries leak power up to 10% per day even when turned off. Is this true?

Battery life is the only thing stopping me rushing to buy one of the many options available, right now...

I get up to 3 hours out of mine - 2 and a half with wifi and a decent screen brightness. Not sure about leaky batteries as I use mine most days.

About the same as fini, but can confirm that it still depletes the battery when switched off at a stupid rate. If it is in standby, you may as well leave it switched on to be honest.
I love the 701, but hate the power management, even in XP.

You can buy an Acer Aspire One A110 AB for £189.05, atom, 512RAM, 8GB SSD, just on sale at a competitor.
