Hey,
I have a desktop Pc as my main PC whcih is excellent but am travelling fairly soon and want a system to take with me to store the several hundreds of photos I will take and to chat to friends and to browse the net.

Been looking at the Asus Eee Pc 1000HE which looks excellent. Anyone have an experience of using this netbook?

Also, my friend wants to know how well it will run Roller Coaster Tycoon 2?

I understand it won;t run version 3 but how well will it do with RCT2?

Thanks

Regards,
Neil

My mum has this. I've used it briefly. it has a nice keyboard, far nicer than some of the earlier Eee's. No idea how it'd run with games though, sorry.

I just picked up a 1000HE yesterday and it's a great little netbook, haven't had the chance to install any games yet but it should be capable of playing most of those older games just fine. The newest bios gives 224mb of memory to the IGP and the Atom will clock to ~2ghz so it's quite a decent little box.

Far superior to the earlier EEE i had and the k/b is brilliant, I can type at full speed just like on a regular k/b whereas before i found it quite tough going.

Battery life is just phenomenal, best notebook currently out there for sure.

I really am considering getting one for my two holidays coming up in July and August and would be excellent to have around to atke with me to places. I would still keep my desktop as my main pc and use the netbook to complement it.

I was also looking at upgrading the memory in it. Would you reccomend buying a 2gb stick to replace the default 1gb? For £16, does seem a bad upgrade in my eyes. Would it take a higher capacity stick too or not?

Thanks

Regards,
Neil

Max RAM is 2gb stick and 1000HE can take 800Mhz which faster than any other netbook :) Also you can upgrade hdd at the same time if you wish as won't void your 2 years warranty as well :D

I bought the 1000HE just before xmas .No problems and a nice fast notebook .Havn't used it for any games though.I upgarded the RAM to it's max 2GB but havn't done the BIOS yet.
Should I really upgrade the BIOS ??

My intended use for it will be in August when I go to California for two weeks so each day I can take all my photos and place them on the netbook and I can then format the memory card. I also want it for contacting home using skype and for writing a trip report.

and then for playing the odd game of RCT2 whilst on the plane!

It will also some in extremely handy for being at home as I do a lot of work on and with computers so I can take it around with me.

Thanks

Regards,
Neil

Yeah ,there a real nice device , I intend to take mine on holidays too and have ripped a load of my DVD's and divx'd them and put them on a external drive [1.8" zif ] to watch . I bought a usb GPS reciever to use with Autoroute 2007 and I'm just in the process of trying out GoogleEarth on it . Yes ,an ideal gadget for the holls.

Anyone care to let me know how the touchpad is as several reviews of the system whcih I ahve read, claim it to be laggy and unresponsive at times?

Thanks

Regards,
Neil

My touchpad works perfectly fine. Only 1 thing that i can complain from this netbook, the left and right click a bit noisy for me but rpobably not for others.

I think 1000HE is the best netbook so far :D;
Draft N, around 9 hrs battery life (depend how you use it), chiclet keyboard (easy to type), big touch pad, easy access to RAM and hdd and won't void 2 years warranty, N280 processor and also can take up to 800Mhz RAM :D

I know this might sound like a silly question but, If I am using a b/g wireless router, will I get any performance benefit by using the draft-n wireless adaptor in the EEE?
