This model is available in the US and Germany it seems, does anybody know if or when it will be available in the UK?

It's bigger brothers both are now (1005P, 1008P). It looks like a great purchase if it goes on sale. Impressive battery life, good design, new Atom, and US and DE prices indicate it might not be much more than £200 for a 6-cell battery model.

Really hoping it's soon as I need a portable PC in this price range and this one has caught my eye.

I have another thread on netbooks around £200 if you have any other alternative suggestions. I'd prefer just an answer to my original question here if anyone knows.

Hi mate,

I work for a pretty large UK reseller of ASUS netbook/notebook computers as an Asus product specialist and I haven't seen any word on the 1001P at all just yet which would indicate that we won't be receiving it for another few weeks at least. We usually get updated with the latest stuff during the first week of every month but if I hear anything, I'll let you know.

The netbook of choice at the moment seem to be the 1005HA, 1005P, and we'll be among the first (if not the first) to get the 1201N with dual core Atom processors.

Thanks for the update, much appreciated.

I've seen the 1005P and 1008P about with the pine trail chips, just not the 1001P. I figured that, although the 1001P would have a better battery life, it'd be much the same as the 1001HA in the end, and I needed one sooner rather than later. I also saw the 1005P for approx £279, and so the 1001P would also probably be a bit more pricey than I wanted too. I ended up paying £219 for the 1001HA, which I'm pleased with. Just twiddling my thumbs waiting for it to arrive now!

Thanks again for the useful post.

Hi mate,

Not a problem at all. I've had a look incidently now that I'm at work, and I'm showing an estimated date for around about the 2nd week of March for the 1001P to arrive in, this isn't definate though as ASUS prove to be slow in bringing stuff into the UK :P

Current (uncofirmed) pricing looks to be around about the £229-249 mark when it arrives.

Cool, I guessed as much. I think it'll start at £249 and work it's way down over the year, so I'm not disappointed about my choice to go with the 1001HA. They're almost identical anyway.

It's a bit crazy that they're that much more expensive here. Retail in the US is $299 for the 1001P.
